As well as commissions, sculptures are sold at the gallery, through the website & in various galleries and shops in the UK. Whether you commission a sculpture or buy one, they will all bear the artist's signature as a mark of authenticity. All sculptures are limited editions* or unique**, one-off pieces, which is very important to know when considering buying art. It is these pieces which make good investments for the future.

*A Limited Edition is a sculpture which will be reproduced only a certain number of times before the artist destroys the mould and no more casts of it will ever be made. It is just like limited edition prints. The edition number will be clearly marked like this 1/10, which shows this is the first sculpture out of an edition of ten. The purpose of limiting an edition is to keep the sculpture rare which in turn means it is likely to increase in value as the edition runs out. When the edition is finished the sculptures may sell for much more that you paid as they are no longer available.

Conversely, an unlimited edition is a sculpture which will be reproduced an unspecified number of times. If a sculpture does not say Limited Edition on it and bear an edition number then it is unlimited. They cost much less to buy as they are mass produced and are unlikely to have been made by the artist who created the original. They do not tend to hold their value at all. You can consider these pieces only as decoration and not really as an investment. Most of the body casting you see in shops are unlimited editions, mass produced in places like eastern Europe and China.

**Unique sculptures are one-offs, which the artist has made and which will never be reproduced. These pieces will often be the most sought after in years to come as there will only ever be one of them. As the original mould is destroyed when Jamie makes a body cast, most commissions are unique as a second one cannot be made.

Artists Proofs are the last category in art. The artist is allowed to make test pieces or one or two copies of a piece, which he may keep for himself. Artist's Proofs are not included in the limited edition. Like promo copies of records or CDs they may be even more valuable in the future.
