Working on the film Around the World in 80 Days at Babelsberg Studios in Berlin, we had great fun casting Jackie Chan. What a dude! No complaints, he just got on with it, horseplay, laughing and joking throughout.
We cast his head in plaster to make these custom fit helmet and goggles and his body as just a simple shell to design the jet pack around. It turned out Jamie and Jackie are a similar size and hence became the body double during the construction phase, which was handy since it was Jamie’s job to build it all! It was whilst working on these Hollywood blockbusters that Jamie was trained in precision body casting.
